Chemtogether is a career fair at ETH Zürich with the aim of connecting students and companies in the general field of chemistry and pharmacy. During both days, 9 companies will present themselves and allow for the exchange of career options with the students and PhDs. In total, 18 companies from the industrial world of chemistry and pharmacy will be present.

Panel Discussion:
CO2 Neutrality: How far away are we from Energy and Production without Fossil Based Carbon?
We will shed light on the pressing issue of moving away from fossil
based carbon from an academic and industrial perspective. Our panelists are Dr. Cornelius Gropp (Development Chemist at Climeworks),
Prof. Dr. Jovana V. Milic (Group Leader at Adolphe Merkle Institute and Assistant Professor at the University of Fribourg),
and Dr. Marco Ranocchiari (Group Leader at Paul Scherrer Institute). The discussion will be moderated by Viktoria Ivarsson (International
Relations Oficer at ETH Zurich). The podium session will be followed by an apéro riche. CO2 Neutrality: How far away are we from Energy and Production without Fossil Based Carbon?

Dr. Cornelius Gropp Development Chemist at Climeworks
After receiving his BSc in chemistry from the University of Heidelberg and the Ecole Polytechnique, Cornelius Gropp
joined the group of Prof. Baran at the Scripps Research Institute in La Jolla for a research stay. Subsequently, he moved
to Zürich to join the graduate program, MSc and PhD with Prof. Diederich, at ETH Zurich specializing in synthetic organic and
physical organic chemistry. In 2018, Cornelius Gropp was awarded a SNSF and Leopoldina Fellowship to join the materials
research group of Prof. Yaghi at UC Berkeley working on porous and crystalline materials for water, hydrogen and
carbon capture. In 2021, he returned to Switzerland and is now working as a Scientist at Climeworks developing
materials for capturing CO2 from the air. Dr. Jovana V. Milic Group Leader at Adolphe Merkle Institute and Assistant Professor at the University of Fribourg Jovana V. Milic has obtained her PhD in the Department of Chemistry and Applied Biosciences (D-CHAB) of ETH Zürich in 2017 with Prof. Francois Diederich. She then worked as a postdoctoral researcher and scientist in the Laboratory of Photonics and Interfaces of Prof. Michael Grätzel at EPFL, until taking on a Group Leader position at the Adolphe Merkle Institute in Fribourg as Swiss National Science Foundation PRIMA Fellow in September 2020, where she presently leads the Smart Energy Materials group. Her research is centered around the development of (supra)molecular materials for renewable energy conversion that can respond to external stimuli and adapt to their operating conditions, with a particular focus on photovoltaics. This involves a multidisciplinary approach at the interface of chemistry, physics, material science, and engineering towards sustainable development. In addition to research and international collaborations, she is invested in science outreach, policy and diplomacy as Science Advice Working Group Co-Lead at the Global Young Academy, as well as through activities of the Swiss Young Academy, European Young Chemists Network, and International Younger Chemists Network, connecting and supporting young scientists globally.
Dr. Marco Ranocchiari Group Leader at Paul Scherrer Institute, Lecturer at ETH Zurich, Co-founder and Scientific Advisor of the PSI Spin-Off novoMOF After receiving his BSc and MSc in chemistry from the University of Milano Italy, Marco Ranocchiari did his PhD studies at ETH Zurich in the Laboratory of Inorganic Chemistry. He then moved to Paul Scherrer Institute (PSI) Switzerland first as a postdoc and then as a scientist in the Synchrotron Radiation and Nanotechnology department and then as a group leader in the Energy and Environment division focusing his research on the synthesis and catalytic application of metal-organic frameworks. In 2022, Marco Ranocchiari became the leader of the Energy System Integration (ESI) at PSI, a platform that wants to accelerate the Net Zero transition by bridging novel technologies with industrialization and commercialization. He is a lecturer of Industrial Chemistry at ETH Zurich, co-writer of a chemistry book for Italian high schools, and co-founder of and scientific advisor of the PSI spin-off novoMOF.
